Pick a colour before you buy the 2023 Honda Civic Type R!

Honda 2023 of Japan is set to unveil the long-awaited new generation Civic Type R. Although the original manufacturer has yet to reveal the specs and figures of this high performance steel-engine model, foreign media have already obtained all the colour options that will be available for the new Civic Type R. Prospective owners can decide which colour they want to buy.

A Civic 11 forum member with information from the US dealership found out that the 2023 Honda Civic Type R will be available in five colour options in the US market, including Crystal Black Pearl, Boost Blue Pearl, Sonic Gray Pearl, Rallye Red and the most popular and iconic Type R model of all time, Championship White.

Dealer information also reveals that all five colour options for the 2023 Honda Civic Type R will be available in the same red and black body kit as the FK8 generation, such as the tank guard, front bumper chin, side skirts and rear bumper chin. The FK8 Honda Civic Type R is also available in the same colour options as the new generation.

The new generation of the Honda Civic Type R, codenamed FL5, will have more aggressive front and rear bumper, side skirts, large wheels, high-performance brakes and, most notably, a large rear deflector rear wing. The full air kit gives the Civic Type R a hotter and more aggressive look, as well as improving the car’s heat dissipation and high speed downforce.

The new generation Honda Civic Type R will be powered by the FK8’s 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, which is estimated to have 306 hp and 40.79 kgm of peak torque for the European models, and 316 hp for the US and Japanese models. Speculation is that Honda will announce at the launch of the new Honda Civic Type R that the high-performance steel cannon has once again set the fastest lap record for a production front-drive car in Nurburgring, Germany. This means that the 2023 Honda Civic Type R will have to beat the 7:40.10 record set by the Renault Megane R.S. Trophy-R in 2019.
